Pupi, manufacturer of kids' clothes at São José do Rio Preto, in southeastern Brazilian state of São Paulo, plans to return to selling on the Arab market in 2006.
Company is happy to return to sales in the Arab markets, said Antonio Modesto de Medeiros, partner of company. Lebanon and Saudi Arabia are already the export destinations of the company.
Company used to export all kinds of girls trousers, blouses and dresses to the Arab markets. However, Arabs wanted more neutral colours. While for boys, jeans trousers and Bermuda shorts and T-shirts were most popular.
Company's client in Saudi Arabia imported between US $120,000 and US $140,000 a year.
According to Medeiros, Arabs like Pupi's garments, its creativity and modeling. The Arab market has the potential to become the best market the world over for Brazilian companies, opined Medeiros.
As the European markets imposed big import fees on Brazilian products, making export to that region was very costly, he explained. Therefore, company has set its target on the Arab and African markets, he added.
Panama, Costa Rica, the United States, France and Angola are major export destinations for Pupi at present.
Company is to attend the FIT (The Kids and Youth Sector Fair) at São Paulo in January.
