Bangladesh's jute exports decline 11% to $406 mn during July-Nov 2022

As per provisional data released by the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, the exports of jute and jute goods decreased to $406.60 million in the first five months of the current fiscal (July-June) from $456.83 million compared to last year. Last year, Bangladesh’s exports of these goods amounted to $1,127.63 million. A target of $1,280 million was set by the country for the current fiscal 2022-23. The target for the first five months was fixed at $480.44 million. 

Raw jute (Chapter 5303) exports declined by 2.93 per cent to $91.90 million in the first five months of the current fiscal from $94.67 million the same period of last year. The outbound exports of jute yarn and twine (Chapter 5307) fell by 19.68 per cent to $218.84 million in the period under review from $272.47 million last year. But the shipment of jute sacks and bags (63510) increased by 13.01 per cent to $59.24 from $52.42 million in the same period of last year. 

Exports of jute carpet (Chapter 57) slipped by 26.1 per cent to $11.21 million in the period under review from $15.17 million last year.
