Parwar directs his ire at Govt over starvation of one lakh jute mill workers

A powerful MP (Member of Parliament) of Jamaat-e-Islami party, Mia Golam Parwar raised a question that what Government is taking steps to resolve the problems of the state-owned jute mills.

Parwar spears at the Government, on Jute and Textiles Minister Shahjahan Siraj's expression of defenselessness in response to his call attention notice in Parliament last evening.

A few BNP legislators expressed shocked by the aggression on the Government by an MP of ruling alliance's colleague Jamaat that holds two important positions in the Cabinet.

Parwar explained that more than 100,000 workers of eight state-owned jute mills in Khulna industrial sector were starving, who were not paid their wages since six months.

The mills were remained shut down because of that shortage running capital and those supplied raw jute to those factories were not paid their price for long time.

Textile Minister responded that those eight mills made a loss of Tk 129 core in 11 months during the last fiscal, those Tk 486 crore bank loan and incurred an accumulated loss of Tk, 1800 crore.

Siraj opined that he is likely to talk with the Prime Minister on the happening issues.
