Asian retailers eager to enter Vietnam's potential market

Likewise European retailers, the Asian retailers are also enthusiastically waiting to enter Vietnam's potential market, which is now permitting foreign investors to enter into its domestic market.

Leading Malaysian retail group, Parkson will open its first store in the Vietnamese market this month by leasing Saigon tourist Trading Center in downtown HCMC, the retailer also plans to open additional nine stores in its first five years of operation in Vietnam.

Tham Tuck Choy, CEO of Parkson - Vietnam explained that the country's potential market full with the young population, increase incomes and standard of living are the major factor for the attraction of foreign retailer.

A local garment producer informed that the foreign-managed trading centers had refused domestic brands, as they were not up to international standards.

Mr. Choy of Parkson Vietnam informed that his company selects brands to target at middle and upper class customers.

Reports depicts that there are 170 supermarkets and trading centers across Vietnam.
