Retail apparel sales cross NZ$1.4bln during Jan-Aug 05

Though New Zealand's apparel retail sales slid NZ $182 million down from NZ $190 million in July, sales reflect a 10.3 percent annual increase and it grew with the changing pace of the country economy.
Reflecting the growth of 7.9 percent, cumulative apparel retail sales went up $1.488 billion during January to August, this year.
Inflation rate in New Zealand moved up and reached 1.1 percent in the third quarter. While unemployment rate is close to the lowest at 3.7 percent, wages grew 2.7 percent in second quarter this year, which triggered consumer spend.
