US retailer Nordstrom appoints Walmart's Jason Morris as CTO & CIO

US-based Nordstrom, a leading fashion retailer, has announced that Jason Morris will join as the company's chief technology and information officer starting May 1, 2023. Morris will oversee Nordstrom's engineering, data science, and analytics functions.

With over 25 years of technology experience in the retail industry, Morris comes from Walmart where he led global enterprise technology as SVP of enterprise business services. Prior to his role at Walmart, Morris led technology development across many aspects of Walmart's retail business, Nordstrom said in a press release.

Morris holds a bachelor’s degree of science in mathematics and computer science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is a board member of the Arkansas Research Alliance and Industry Advisory Board for the University of Arkansas.

"Jason has a wealth of experience leading large, global teams to create and implement best-in-class retail technology solutions," said Erik Nordstrom, chief executive officer of Nordstrom. "He will play a critical role as we continue to advance our Closer to You market strategy, and we look forward to welcoming him to the team."
