Intertek joins ZDHC programme

Intertek, a leading global total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) programme. Intertek will support the programme's vision of implementing sustainable chemistry and best practices in the textile, leather and footwear industries to protect consumers, workers and the environment.

Intertek is committed to work collaboratively towards achieving the milestones set out in the programme’s joint roadmap, through active engagement with other brands, retailers and stakeholders. ZDHC is a major body which is leading the textile, leather and footwear industries to advance towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.

By becoming a member of the ZDHC programme, we are joining a collaborative community of experts and practitioners with the goal to protect the interests of consumers and our environment through the implementation of sustainable practices in the textile, leather and footwear industries," Calvin Yam, senior vice president of Global Softlines at Intertek said.

Intertek will be joining 23 fashion brands, 33 value chain affiliates, as well as 14 industry associates to drive industry-wide change in responsible chemical management. Leveraging its robust experience and capabilities in assurance, testing, inspection and certification, as well as in the textiles and footwear industry, Intertek delivers comprehensive solutions, enabling fashion retailers and brands to fulfill their ZDHC programme commitments.
