The companies will present their latest capabilities and innovations to the composites' community and the strategic end-user’s market. Companies like Toray Advanced Materials, Hyosung, Kolon, Hanwha Q Cells & Advanced Materials, Hankuk Carbon, Arkema Korea, and Samyang Corp are amongst the participants to the fair.
The South Korean government has decided to develop a whole composites ecosystem. That goal will be achieved thanks to three strategic pillars: increasing R&D investment in the composites sector for equipment and machines, diversifying its materials and intermediate product providers, reinforcing excellence in research and development with major academic institutions such as Hanyang University and UNIST.
“The composites industry in Asia Pacific is dynamic and largely contributes to the global growth of the Industry. JEC Asia is the major composites platform in the region, where the full value chain gathers from raw material producers, intermediate and final processors. It also encompasses the downstream of the value chain, the original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and end-users. For its 12th edition, JEC Asia will showcase numerous features: an extensive conference programme that includes the International Carbon Festival (ICF) co-organised with the KCTech, production site tours and the coveted JEC Innovation Awards etc. All these have been crafted to provide the composites industry with targeted networking opportunities and an unrivaled event to develop and share knowledge on composite materials,” said Christian Strassburger, events director APAC.
MAI Carbon, the Leading-Edge Cluster initiative, made up of more than 70 businesses, academic and research institutions in Germany, has been a longtime partner of JEC Asia. They will offer a brand-new Student Program that keeps abreast of composite-industry needs. The Student Program targets students who want to supplement their course studies by learning more about fibre-reinforced composites.
From 9 am to 4 pm, there will be a 'Automotive Conference session: Composite golden triangle and new hybrid solutions', with Dr. Bin Wei, former senior manager lightweight at NIO; and Choon Soo Lee, team leader at Hyundai Motor Group.
JEC Asia 2019 will host the 2nd leg of the JEC Startup Booster world tour competition. The ten finalists selected in the region by a prestigious jury, will pitch their project to win a chance to showcase their work at JEC World 2020 in Paris.
From 5 pm to 5:30 pm, a session will be hosted by Avner Ben-Bassat, president & CEO of Plataine, on 'The 4th Industrial Revolution: Implementing IIoT and AI to Composite Materials & Manufacturing'.
From 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the JEC Innovation Awards and Startup Booster Ceremony will be held. During the ceremony, the winners will be revealed.
On November 15, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, there will be session on ? Aeronautic: Faster processes and new materials co-organised with Composites United with various high-profile speakers such as professor Dr.-Ing, Axel Herrmann, head of predevelopment at AIRBUS; Jens Boelke, head of composites & new technologies at Thomas Technik; Charlotte Troubat, marketing manager at Chomarat, etc.
This year JEC Asia will feature an exclusive Innovation Stage Program to put the spotlight on the startups that participate in Startup Booster competition. Communications and business experts will host several sessions on business, management, and marketing. Among others, this stage will welcome Dongki Lee, executive managing director, innovation & startup group at the Korea International Trade Association (KITA); Ellen YE, investment director Asia-Pacific, at Solvay Ventures; Henry SHIN, director, Kolon Composites Innovation Center.
Through the exclusive Business Meetings Program, exhibitors and decision-makers can set tailor-made meetings with composites partners, clients, and suppliers, identify new contacts and discover new products and solutions.
JEC Asia offers also the opportunity to meet with major academic institutes and universities such as: Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Gyeongbuk Hybrid Technology Institute (GHI), Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology (KCTECH), Hanyang University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Kookmin University, and Kumoh National Institute of Technology.
In addition to this programme, the 2019 edition of JEC Asia will welcome for the first time the eMove360° Asia area and conferences focusing on the critical topics of electric mobility, charging & energy, battery, and powertrain, as well as vehicles and mobility concepts. e-Move360° Asia conference sessions themes include: Trends of E-mobility and Self-Driving Vehicles: trends and future of e-mobility in Asia; Battery and Power Train; and E-mobility Charging and Energy.
