SAFW Fashion Week in July this year

sa fashion week in its nineth edition was meant showcase and focus spotlight on prevailing abundant fashion talent from going unnoticed in south africa.
last year safw was significant for two reasons: firstly, sa fashion design came of age and, secondly, sa business saw for the first time a viable industry developing.
after 8 years of sticking to its mandate of developing fashion into serious business and creating wealth through design safw showed that it can develop designers into significant voices on the south african, african, and global business stage.
safw's policy of supporting exclusively the south african design industry (clothing, accessories, footwear, textiles) paid dividends with media acknowledging that this year the industry moved beyond just hype. all this against a backdrop of competitors looking to the west in search of an identity.
it is clear the safw now moves forward with confidence and that it is a new world voice that is being taken seriously. safw this year, will run from thursday 28 july until sunday 31 july. safw will comprise of the collections; the exhibition; and the 2nd arts and culture fashion seminar.
