'Made in Turkey', Turkey's first official trade fair was launched in the UAE.
Sheikh Hasher bin Juma Al Maktoum, Director, Dubai Department of Information opened the fair, which has an array of traditional Turkish costumes on display besides construction, machinery, decoration and fashion industries displays spread across four halls.
Over 270 companies feature in this largest ever country display by Turkey abroad.
The delegation spent time with many of the 270 companies - a record breaking number for Turkey in the country's biggest exhibition to date. The making it one of the largest exhibitions for an individual country at Dubai's International Convention Centre.
Ellubient Bülent Erten, Managing Director, Expotim International Fair Organisations Inc, the exhibition organisers said, “The response has been staggering with participant figures almost double what was originally expected.”
Currently, Turkish exports to the UAE are expected to rise 53 percent by the year end following a forecasted increase from $1.3 billion (dhs4.8 billion) in 2004 to $2 billion (dhs7.3 billion) in 2005. A free trade agreement in also expected to materialise soon ensuring stronger trade ties, such as those being sought through 'Made in Turkey' fair.
Erten stated that the inaugural trade fair was meant to generate business, and "We're currently in an era of major growth and there is vast potential for the future,” he added.
Machinery sector has been adequately represented with 67 leading national names such as Anet Teknik, a company which exports its factory machines to 800 companies in 27 countries worldwide, participating in the expo.
