Carpet Design Awards given away at Domotex show

At the recently held Domotex fair in Germany, the world's finest designer carpets and rugs were awarded prizes in eight categories at the 2016 Carpet Design Awards.
“These categories included Best Studio Artist Design, Best Traditional Design, Best Modern Collection, Best Innovation and other four awards,” a press release from the organisers said.
The winners were picked from a list of 24 finalists, whittled down from an initial 320 entries from 21 countries and was the eleventh successive year that Domotex has hosted the international award.
Under the chairmanship of the British designer Michael Sodeau, the international jury selected designer pieces that really stood out in terms of design, quality and craftsmanship.
According to the organisers, entries were judged on design and design concept, materials, execution, texture or structure and quality as well as sustainability and branding.
For the Best Studio Artist Design category, Studio Brieditis & Evans took away the award, while Naziri bagged the award for the Best Modern Design Superior.
In the Best Modern Design Deluxe category, Hossein Rezvani Design won the award and in Traditional Design, Rug and Kilim picked the award.
The Best Transitional Design award was won by again by Naziri, Best Modern Collection award by Wool and Silk Rugs and Best Traditional Collection award by Rug Star by Jürgen Dahlmanns.
The last award in the Best Innovation category was taken away by Zollanvari, which the jury said has the potential to have a widespread ecological impact on rug production. (AR)
