The capacity expansion at the existing unit of Filatex India Limited (FIL) in Dahej, Gujarat, is progressing well, the company has informed stock exchanges.

FIL had successfully commenced commercial production for manufacture of 100 tons per day (TPD) of polyester fully drawn yarn (FDY) in March 2016, and it is now in the process of capacity expansion of value added product - draw textured yarn (DTY).

“The process of installing 40 texturising machines is progressing as per schedule. Upon completion of this expansion, the manufacturing capacity of DTY will increase by 200 TPD,” FIL said.

Twelve texturising machines have already been installed on which production of approximately 60 TPD has started. The remaining machines would be installed in phases and the process is likely to be completed by September 30, 2016.

FIL is one of the major filament yarn manufacturers with an integrated yarn manufacturing facility at Dahej, Dadra and Noida. The company manufactures polyester filament yarn, polypropylene filament yarn, fully drawn yarn, draw textured yarn, textile grade chips, narrow customised fabrics and monofilament yarns.

The company currently has capacity to produce 600 tonnes per annum (TPA) of monofilament yarns, 60,800 TPA of polyester chips, 78,500 TPA of polyester POY, and 48,200 TPA of FDY. (RKS)
