Four textile specialists and professors from the faculty of textile and clothing technology at the Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach, Germany, recently visited Monforts’ Monfongs Zhongshan factory, producing stenter frame ranges for the Chinese and international markets, during a study tour of China.

The faculty has cooperation agreements with universities in China, the United States, Turkey, and in many European countries, with this visit being organised in cooperation with Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Donghua University.

One of Europe’s largest study locations for young textile engineers, the Mönchengladbach faculty has a century of history and teaches degree courses both in German and English.

The professors had travelled first to Hong Kong and then visited the Monfongs factory in Zhongshan, where Monfongs executives Leo Wong, Cody Tung and Wilson Leung met them and provided a tour of the production facilities.

The professors were dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr.habil.Rudolf L Voller; vice dean Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Lutz Vossebein, whose speciality is textile technology, textile testing and quality management; Prof. Dr. rer. Pol. Susanne Müller, who specialises in business administration, marketing and logistics; and Prof. Dr.-Ing Maike Rabe, whose area of expertise is textile finishing and ecology.

Monforts Textilmaschinen was founded in 1884. Today, it is a member of Fong’s Industries with production facilities in St. Stefan, Austria and in Zhongshan, PRC. The Monfongs Zhongshan plant predominately produces stenters. The Monforts production facility, Montex Maschinenfabrik in Austria, produces all ranges for technical textiles, continuous dyeing ranges, compressive shrinking ranges and stenters. (GK)
