Kashmir seeks Rs 50 cr under PMDP from textiles ministry
Jammu and Kashmir state has sought Rs 50 crore under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) from the Indian textiles ministry. In a meeting last week with textiles minister Smriti Irani in New Delhi, state minister for industries and commerce Chander P Ganga briefed her about the projects submitted to the Central Wool Development Board in that regard.

Ganga informed the Union Minister of the three projects submitted by the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology in Srinagar under the infrastructure support scheme of the National Handicrafts Development Programme regarding upgradation of the design bank, testing lab and setting up a Common Facility Centre at Baghi-Ali-Mardan-Khan in Nowshara, according to a news agency report.

He also discussed the need to set up an Indian Institute of Handloom Technology at Jammu and introducing a diploma course in handloom and handicrafts technology. (DS)
