Mini textile park to be set up in Tamil Nadu
The Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries' Association (TIDITSSIA) in Tamil Nadu has reviewed a few locations in Manapparai area for setting up a mini textile park (MTP) with generous government subsidy. The MTP scheme plans to establish at least 10 production units on a minimum area of 10 acres through a special purpose vehicle.

The location of the MTP with common facility centres for design ideation, training and sales in Manapparai area will be ideal for the development of the readymade garments business in Puthanatham town, a report in a top South Indian English-language daily reported TIDITSSIA president N Kanagasabapathy as saying.

The state government’s handlooms and textiles department will offer subsidy to the extent of 50 per cent with a maximum ceiling of Rs 2.5 crore.

Most readymade garment manufacturers in Puthanatham, located 17 km from the Manapparai town, specialise in making ‘churidaars’ and children's apparel of export quality. (DS)
