Azerbaijani farmers begin harvesting cotton crop

Azerbaijan till date has harvested 39,500 tons of cotton in the new cotton season, the statistics committee reported.
In the main cotton growing regions of Azerbaijan, cotton was sown on 8,984 hectares in Bilasuvar, 5,976 hectares in Saatli, and 5,544 hectares in Agjabedi.
Among the share of harvest, Saatli harvested 8,255 tons, Bilasuvar 7,377 tons, Agjabedi 3,036 tons, Imishli -2,901 tons, Barda -2,705 tons, Sabirabad 2,590 tons and other areas contributed to the rest of the output.
It may be recalled that, cotton exports had plunged to $174,390 this September from $747, 080 in August 2011, down a massive 76.65 percent.
