With an aim to revive the rich embroidery and craft heritage of artisans of Gujarat's Kutch district, Khamir, an institution devoted to empowering artisans, organized a special three-day expo in New Delhi.

The expo aimed at reiterating the tales of Kutch artisans and reinstating the focus on their arts.

Several arts showcasing the skills of Kutch artisans, including block printing, leather items, tie-dyeing, etc., were showcased at the expo organized in the capital city of New Delhi after a gap of two years.

However, organic cotton and camel products bagged the spotlight at the expo.

Khamir productively utilizes the Kutch region's resources to help local artisans earn livelihood. Besides, it also furthers a platform where artisans can unite and share their views, skills and expertise in an amiable atmosphere.

This year, the institution launched Kala cotton at the expo, which is a product prepared from cotton, considered to be in existence since primitive times. The cotton, domestically produced in Kutch has now been transformed into hand-woven and naturally dyed hand-spun yarn.
