Jill Alexander to unveil plus size line at Fashion Show

Jill Alexander Designs (JAD) creators of high quality clothing for the curvy woman size 12 and above, announced that it is one of ten independent design houses chosen, nationwide, to unveil its latest collection during Full Figured Fashion Week in New York, June 13 – 16.
Full Figured Fashion Week, produced by fashion veteran, Gwen DeVoe, provides a forum for independent plus-size designers, brand executives, bloggers and Internet pundits to exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in the plus-size world.
“I have been watching Jill grow over the last three years and her rise to the top is well-deserved,” said Gwen DeVoe, creator of Full Figured Fashion Week.
“She is one of the top plus-size designers in the country. She not only understands her customer, she has drawn the much needed attention to this segment of the market. Now designers such as Donna Karan, Anne Klein, Ellen Tracy, Dana Buchman and Oscar de la Renta are all jumping into the plus-size market.”
Recent reports on the plus-size market showed that in 2011, this segment of the fashion industry made up for $17 billion in sales.
“We have seen a huge shift in the fashion industry over the last year when it comes to addressing the needs of curvy women,” said Jill Alexander, chief designer and owner of Jill Alexander Designs. “On runways, in stores and even in the pages of Vogue magazine, the plus-size woman is finally getting some fashion respect.”
At this year's New York Full Figured Fashion Week, Jill Alexander Designs will be showcasing several new designs from its collection, including pieces from the company's new Familiar Destinations line for Fall 2012.
Pieces shown during Full Figured Fashion Week, along with the entire JAD collection, are available online and through a variety of fashion boutiques throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and soon in the United Kingdom.
