There is now widespread fear amongst the 53-member strong Commonwealth bloc countries that United Kingdom would impose full market tariffs on textiles and apparels imported from the bloc.
Following an agreement signed between UK and Euromart regulators in Brussels, UK would now impose full Common Market Tariff on products imported from Commonwealth countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
It is now feared that, UK would impose 18 percent duty on mainly cotton textile and clothing imports from other Commonwealth countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
UK however, has assured these countries that it would not apply these measures on imports from other Commonwealth nations.
