VIEW in Munich indicates a positive start to the season

Such an all-round success to kick off the season is not a forgone conclusion in tense times like these – and this was the unanimous VIEW of those attending the VIEW Premium Selection in Munich.

In the stylish setting of Prisco Haus at Prinzregentenplatz an exclusive group of over 100 collections presented the first trends and innovations for Autumn/Winter 2013/14.

The Munich Fabric Start team as the organisers of this small but sophisticated kick-off event was highly satisfied with the development of the early date some two months ahead of the main trade fair in September.

“Despite the tricky market situation we saw visitors over these two days of a quality and quantity we had not expected,” said MFS Managing Director Sebastian Klinder.

It was not only designers of high-quality, renowned brands that filled the three floors to bursting on the first day. The event also attracted personal attendance by designers from Dolce & Gabbana, Rena Lange, Strenesse, Escada, Boss Orange and Michael Michalsky.

Highquality sportswear was also represented with designers from Willy Bogner, Escada Sport and Sportalm. Tommy Hilfiger, Strellson, Daniel Hechter, Marc O’Polo, Eduard Dressler, Cinque and Mac were other names from the long and distinguished guest list at VIEW. A promising kick-off for the organisers: “Munich Fabric Start in September is also fully booked. Already at this early stage VIEW indicated a positive start to the season. We are considering extending this kick-off event in the next few seasons,” said Wolfgang Klinder from MFS management.

Many exhibitors confirm the relevance of this early date for the German-speaking market. “For us and our customers VIEW is very important. The wheel is turning ever faster and the general framework ever more detailed. Which is why it is increasingly important to do sourcing early on. Nowadays you have to invest more in information than in the past,” said Ivo Voehringer from the agency Groha und Voehringer who presented collections from the likes of Boggio Casero, Majoccchi and Woolrich U.S.A. The fact that successful brands like Hugo Boss also follow this way of thinking was demonstrated by the number of designers finding their way from Metzingen to Munich.
