Japanese man-made fibre output plunges in July

Japan’s man-made fibre (MMF) production plunged 5.1 percent year-on-year in July 2012 to 83,621 tons. This included synthetic fibres, whose production dipped by 6.2 percent to 69,417 tons, the Japan Chemical Fibres Association reported.
 
Item-wise, production of nylon filament soared by 4.6 percent to 8,584 tons, while that of polyester filament plummeted by 6.9 percent to 14,342 tons, acrylic staple fibre by 17.2 percent to 10,146 tons and polyester staple fibre by 6.4 percent to 13,076 tons.
 
Japan’s MMF production in January-July period dipped 3.5 percent year-on-year to 582,574 tons. The production of synthetic fibre declined by 4.4 percent year-on-year to 481,049 tons during the seven-month period.
