Mychael Darwin unveils 'The Art of Denim' collection

Mychael Darwin Custom Jeans’ Dream Jean Foundation will give a portion of proceeds from the new Art of Denim Collection to help support effective organizations combating the alarming escalation of Human Trafficking both here in the States and abroad.

In April of this year, the UN crime-fighting office announced that 2.4 million people across the globe are victims of human trafficking at any one time, and 80 percent of them are being exploited as sexual slaves.  $32 billion is earned every year by unyielding criminals and two out of every three victims are women and young girls.

“The Art of Denim collection is inspired by freedom—something God intended every human being to have,” says Mychael Darwin, who will unveil a stunning hand-beaded denim piece as a tribute to Art, Denim, and Freedom.

The collection includes a myriad of breathtaking premium denim couture pieces of the highest order.  From hand-beaded jeans with intricate hand-embroidered patterns to Swarovski crystal encrusted Japanese premium denim, with thousands of multi-colored crystals.  “Each pair is a work of art,” said Mychael Darwin.  “Just like each human being is an expression of the ultimate creativity in human design.  To know that millions of young children and adults from all walks of life are being exploited and enslaved in modern society is unconscionable,” said Mychael Darwin.

Fashion—like music—has the ability to transcend cultures and traditions to bring important issues that plague humanity to the world stage.  Mychael Darwin Custom Jeans’ Dream Jean Academy will spotlight and support movements that seek to bring freedom and life to oppressed people globally by using the fashion runway as a platform.

The entire Art of Denim Collection by Mychael Darwin will debut fully at the Spring OC Fashion Showcase event in 2013.
