Govt penalizes textile & garment enterprises for short performance on quotas

About 28 textile and garment enterprises of Vietnam exporting goods to the US market have been officially penalized because of short performing quotas applicable to some important textile categories in 2005.
An official note to this effect was duly signed by the Trade Deputy Minister, Le Danh Vinh.
The quotas were added by Ministry of Industry and Trade based on US customers' order, however, they were still being held by the 28 companies till the end last year.
Of the quota penalty applied on the total up to 175,000 dozen items, Ho Chi Minh city based - J&D Vinako Company Ltd claims the highest amount of 47,816 dozen from within categories 338-339.
