Leading action sport retailer West 49 informed that it will enter the men's active-lifestyle apparel market with the launch of a new store concept under the banner Duke's North Shore.

Sam Baio, President and Chief Executive Officer of West 49 Inc, said, "The men's action apparel market in Canada is vastly underserved."

"Duke's North Shore will fill this void with a truly unique retail concept, offering high quality casual wear at affordable prices for active males thirty-five and older, with a strong focus on customer service in an environment that specifically caters to the shopping preferences of men. This new banner is a logical extension of our proven West 49 concept, building on our expertise and experience in delivering lifestyle apparel and accessories to a defined audience,” he added.

“Most of the best-selling brands in our West 49 stores also have clothing lines designed specifically for Duke's target market, allowing Duke's to take advantage of synergies resulting from the combined purchasing volumes of all of our banners. The new banner will also benefit from our competencies in shared service functions such as real estate, marketing, and accounting," he concluded.

Duke's North Shore stores will offer a variety of clothing, footwear and accessories from leading brands such as Quicksilver, Billabong, Hurley and Burton. The stores will deliver a unique male shopping experience, with effective presentation of products, ample comfortable seating, and multiple video screens featuring televised sports.
