Paris FW Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2013/14 grabs attention
Jul '13
Held in continuation of the main event Paris Fashion Week, the Fall/Winter 2013-14 Haute Couture show grabbed great attention, be it from media, fashion-lovers or celebs.
At the show, Christian Dior chose to present a cross-continental collection to embrace world fashion. For his collection of over 50 pieces Raf Simons, Artistic Director at Dior, drew inspiration from women of US, Asia, Africa and Europe.
The collection included silk dresses in coral and periwinkle shades with sequined columns of high-gloss sequins, beaded petticoats and bold tribal graphics. Also there were waist-cinching structured herringbone jackets adopting a modern look through transparent sequins.
A floor-length gown with dark brown and white print resembling cheetah print in the bottom offered glimpses of African culture. Adding to this, skirts and jackets with bold stripes in navy and orange as well as orange and turquoise shades reflecting jaunty American style enlivened the designer’s bold, sporty and dynamic image at the show.
Tara Swennen of Kristen Stewart made much use of satin, chiffon, shiny fabrics, glittering embroidery and laces and also sequins and crystals in her collection to give them a luxurious look to enchant women.
Showcasing for his Armani Prive label Giorgio Armani featured sleek nude hued gowns.
Karl Lagerfeld dressed his models in frothy low-hipped dresses in embroidered fabrics. The pert caps worn on back of the heads added to the style statement.
Amazing silk dresses with floral designs like blue flower prints and frothy textures marked the creations of Giambattista Valli.
Through his incredible embellishments, designer Zuhair Murad created dresses that gave a feeling of model’s bodies being crept up in tree branches like veins.
Ulyana Sergeenko presented a range of stunning fur and woolen dresses with stocking boots to lure women who are obsessed with Russian fairy tales.
Victor & Rolf’s idea of featuring models donning all black dresses and make them sit or lie down in forms resembling rocks to present a Japanese rock garden also worked well.
