An array of exquisite gowns, daywear and other fashion accessories, straight from the wardrobes of queens and some of the most glamorous women of Britain, will go on display at the Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Cumbria, England.

Scheduled to take place from October 26, 2013 to January 26, 2014, the exhibit aims to pay tribute to the works of famous royal couturiers Sir Norman Bishop Hartnell and Sir Edwin Hardy Amies.

Titled as ‘Hartnell to Amies: Couture by Royal Appointment’, the special event would highlight Hartnell’s mastery in cuts and embellishments as well as Amies’ expertise in understated British elegance.

The event will feature dresses, worn by the likes of HM Queen Mary, Oonagh Guinness, Lady Anne Glenconner, Barbara Cartland and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, from the 1920s to the 1990s eras.

In addition to the expansive display of fine garments, the exhibit would also showcase some rare photographs of Hartnell’s and Amies’ Spring-1953 collections, shot by the late British fashion photographer Norman Parkinson.
