Clothing prices higher in CPI of March 2006

Statistics Sweden released the Inflation Rate for the Month of March 2006.

It stated that the consumer prices increased on average with 0.7 percent from February to March. The annual inflation rate in March was 1.1 percent (0.6 percent in February and 0.1 percent in March 2005). CPI for March 2006 is 282.89 (1980=100).

To the total increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) higher prices on clothing (8.1 percent) contributed with 0.4 percentage points. Higher prices on housing (0.7 percent) also contributed with 0.2 percentage points to the monthly change.

Higher prices on fuels and lubricants (2.3 percent) contributed with 0.1 percentage points. Higher prices on miscellaneous goods and services (0.3 percent) and restaurants (0.5 percent) contributed together with 0.1 percentage points.

Lower prices on other recreational items and equipment (-2.6 percent) counteracted the increase with 0.1 percentage points.

In March the underlying inflation, measured as an annual rate, according to UND1X was 1.2 percent (0.8 percent in February).

The Harmonised Index (HICP) increased with 0.6 percent from February to March and increased by 1.4 percent since March 2005. The Net Price Index (NPI) increased with 0.8 percent from February to March and increased with 0.3 percent from March 2005 to March 2006.
