Givenchy & Juun.J show at Paris Menswear Fashion Week

Sports and fine art movements played as themes behind the French luxury fashion house Givenchy’s menswear show on the penultimate day of Paris Menswear Fashion Week.

Drawing inspiration from the early 20th-century Bauhaus movement and basketball game, the brand’s Creative Director of Italian origin Ricardo Tisci created a very smart yet understated Fall/Winter 2014-15 male fashion collection.

Accented with abstract circular shapes and lines as well as prints similar to the basketball court markings, the line’s most standout pieces were the double-pleated gray and black baggy tailored pants and soft stoles made from muskrat and opossum furs.

South Korean designer Juun.J was inspired from the gangsters of 1930s and 40s films for his latest runway presentation. Replete with abnormally wide collars and tubular arms, the Zootsuit collection displayed high-waist trousers, broad-shouldered elongated coats, pin stripe shirts, leather pants and shiny velvety jackets.

Gibraltar-born British fashion designer’s eponymous menswear line John Galliano Homme staged a very sleek and stylish runway collection for the contemporary men. Designed by Bill Gaytten, the apparels included puffed leggings, bulging cycling blousons and circular shaped loose-fit jerseys.

Sharp tailored looks dominated the Belgian designer Maison Martin Margiela’s latest menswear collection. Incorporated with military-style detailing, the line included waterproof utility vests, bomber jackets, slouchy suits, single-pleat pants, buckled coats and fur-trimmed overcoats.
