Designer label Ruffian opened the third day of ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York with its Elizabethan era-inspired Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.

Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, the designers behind the New York-based label, created a glamorous line with luxe materials like silk jacquards, flowing chiffon and soft satin. The pieces included long coats, layered dresses, red tights, turtle neck full-sleeve blouses and the Buckingham palace guards’ style large roundish hats.

Jill Stuart presented a very flirty girly range mixed with an edgy rock star like vibes. Replete with cute feminine polk dots and glam sparkly accents, the line showcased hand stitched bedazzled tights, flowing frocks, tailored jackets and swaying skirts.

Fashion brand DKNY staged an unusual runway presentation using real people such as painters, health professionals and biologists instead of professional models, on the fourth day of the event. The collection, designed by the label owner Donna Karan, featured a black faux fur vest, a crepe hounds tooth and lace shift dress, a slim fit denim pair, a cotton cut-off shirt and a vinyl pleated slip dress.

Celebrating the glorious 40th anniversary of her evergreen wrap dress, American designer Diane von Furstenberg started her show with a cleavage highlighting dress. The fashion veteran’s latest A/W range also included dotted high-waist chiffon numbers, printed peasant-style blouses, skirts with uneven hemlines, and swirl patterned cropped wool jackets and coats.
