Yarn Expo Autumn 2014 held from October 20-22, witnessed over 18 per cent more visitors as against the last Autumn Edition.
Altogether 7,098 visitors from 62 countries and regions came to source from nearly 150 yarn suppliers during the three-day event held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, with the top five visitor countries being Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, the US and Taiwan.
Yarn Expo showcased a wide spectrum of natural and blended yarns including cotton, wool, flax / regenerated flax, and man-made fibres and yarns as well as specialty products including elastic, and fancy and blended yarns. Among them, cotton yarn was a big product category.

Wendy Wen, senior general manager at Messe Frankfurt (HK) said, “Our exhibitors reported they were happy with the result as, other than a large number of Chinese buyers, they were also able to meet with buyers coming from other countries.”
The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) from India, one of the co-organisers of the Indian Pavilion, also agreed that, by exhibiting at this fair, Indian suppliers could extend their reach to overseas markets.
Ravindranathan Narayanasamy, joint director at TEXPROCIL said, “Indian yarn suppliers are now exploring South American, European and Russian markets and we met many buyers from these countries here, which is good for us.”
Syed Abedin Ahmed Rizvi from Pakistan’s Indus Dyeing & Mfg said, “The good thing about this fair is that we can meet not only customers from China, but also those from the US, Europe and Japan and their feedbacks on our products are all positive.”
Exhibitors from Hong Kong were also satisfied with the number of Chinese visitors. According to Farooq Saeed, Director of Keywin Trading Ltd from Hong Kong, they mainly target the Chinese market and have seen many buyers from the country coming this year.”
“With many exhibitors here at the fair showcasing their latest specialty fibres, visitors too were impressed by the product range,” organisers of Yarn Expo Autumn 2014, Messe Frankfurt informs.
