Pre-budget session insists assured constant energy supply

Power breakdown was a serious matter of national distress reiterated Finance and Planning Minister M Saifur Rahman to the business leaders.

The Minister acknowledged the malfunctioning in providing sufficient power at a pre-budget discussion gathering, attended by privileged business leaders, and insisted the government to guarantee continuous energy supply at all costs and sustain the current tendency in economic development.

The influential also stressed explanation of the 'national crisis' by giving it the maximum precedence in the next budget. Expressing energy as the basic driver for economic growth, the government is hitherto obtaining every benefit from the segment in which the government has already invested a lot said Saifur.

Together prearranged by the National Board of Revenue and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) the conference was presided over by FBCCI President Mir Nasir Hossain.

Entrepreneurs also brought to notice important issues, including price rise of prerequisites, troubles in the small and medium scale industries, intensification of the pre-shipment inspection companies and the capital market, tax holiday and development of the port and other infrastructure amenities.

MA Momen, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said the country is now fleeting a critical time as the uneven energy supply created a menace to uphold the country's economic development.

He stressed on making of renewable energy to conquer the calamity.
