Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla will complete 20 years of their design partnership this year. At the WIFW they will show a line featuring parts of collections over the years from 1987 to date.
The line is suitably titled Abu Sandeep Classics because the outfits are still wearable today. The styles to be shown at the India Fashion week were and are still turning points and trend setting in design. Like Abu Sandeep say they don't follow trends they set them.
"We are showing at the WLIFW purely to show support toward the FDCI. The collection is a manifestation of two decades of designing and we aim to show Indian karigari and design in its best avatar to the world," Abu Sandeep.
Some of Abu Sandeep's most famous collections over the years such as Dervish 1987, Miniature 1989, Crush 1987, Marodi 1993, Mirrorwork 1990, Architectural 1991, Velvet Line 1993, Balinesian 1993, Exotica 2004, Peacock 2005, Faces 2004 Stone 1993, Lotus Pond 2005, Pastel Floral 1995, Isfahan 2004 , Chikan 1993-2006 , Skin Net 1990 etc will be seen on the ramp by this generation, probably, for the first time ever.
"India Fashion week epitomizes all things that are great in our country… the crafts, architecture, art etc. All eyes are on India as a leading inspiration for world fashion, so, in our opinion designers should show them what India has to offer in terms of design and craft not imbibe from western culture ," Abu Sandeep.
