Highlights on federal budget for 2005-2006

The Pakistan's Federal Budget for the 2005-2006 financial year with a total expenditure of 1,098 billion rupees was announced on Monday afternoon, revealing an rise of 21.7 percent over outgoing year with GDP, aiming of seven percent growth.

The resource availability during the next year has been estimated at 980 billion rupees as against 843 billion rupees in the outgoing financial year.

Net revenue have been estimated at 643 billion rupees indicating an raise of 15.4 percent over the outgoing year and the net capital receipts have been anticipated at 51 billion rupees.

External receipts are anticipated at 212 billion rupees with an rise of 35.8 percent over the running year. Out of total expenditure of 1,098 billion rupees, the present expenditure would be 826 billion and development expenditure 272 billion rupees.

The present expenditure reveal a rise of 5.3 currently over the revised estimates of the outgoing year while the development expenditure shows an increase of 35 percent over the figure for the outgoing year.

Current expenditure accounts 75.2 percentage in total budgetary outlay for the next financial as compared to 79.5 percent in the revised estimates for the outgoing year.

Defense expenditure for the next year has been estimated at 223 billion rupees.

Minister of State for Finance Omer Ayub presenting the budget draft to the Parliament said that a record allocation of 272 billion rupees has been proposed for public sector development program.
