A delegation of scientists and animal liberationists from the Australian Wool Growers Association (AWGA) will visit New York to negotiate with animal rights group PETA, and request it to stop the ongoing wool boycott campaign.

Binding its case on a pain-relief spray for mulesing, AWGA contends that Australian Wool Innovation's present legal step against PETA has failed to prevent the watchdog body from relenting over its anti-wool campaign.

AWGA's Martin Oppenheimer hopes that the meetings will surely give positive result.

Further, he said that as far as the results are concerned, they won't know until the end, this week, but they sounded positive.

He explained that they will withdraw legal action as that is going to be first step to move forward. Having successful dialogue and negotiation in this sort of area is going to mean that both sides have to give a little bit, he added.

On the other hand, other wool producers stay in doubtful illusion about the outcome of the meeting.

Robert Pietsch from the Australian Sheep and Wool Industry Taskforce explained that they require the understanding that the entire wool industry has been put in a vulnerable state by PETA, and the whole country is looking forward reach an amicable solution.
