In addition to the existing 14 agencies in Europe, America and Asia, the Hohenstein Institutes in Bönnigheim (Germany) opened an overseas agency in India on 1 April 2006. This is also the official branch office of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 in the country.

Headed by 43-year old textile expert Jacob Kutty, the office in Mumbai therefore offers interested manufacturers a wide range of services in the areas of testing and certification. In order to ensure a uniform standard of quality, all laboratory tests such as tests for harmful substances according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 are carried out in Bönnigheim.
