5th AUTEX World Textile Conference to end today at Portorož, Slovenia

The 5th AUTEX World Textile Conference which began in Slovenia on June 27, 2005 will conclude today.

AUTEX 2005 conference will be an important forum for exchanging news and information between academics and experts in the field of textile engineering all over the world.

Organized by Textile Department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor with the organising Committee consisting Chairperson - Alenka Majcen-Le Maréchal, Co-chairman - Zoran Stjepanovic, AUTEX stands for the Association of Universities for Textiles (www.autex.org), grouping together universities with established international reputations in textile education and research (founded in 1994), and consists of members within Europe (within and outside the European Union) and beyond, including the USA.

The association aims to play a leading role in the future
development of textile education, and in basic, strategic and applied research.

This conference aimed to give an overview on advanced textile materials and corresponding environmentally-friendly technologies.

Special discussions were dedicated to textile education, textile design, fashion and style, as well as to e-activities and management in the textile sector.

The three day conference followed the programme consisting:
§ a plenary session and keynote lectures;
§ a series of parallel sessions dealing with specific topics;
§ a forum on innovation in textiles: matching market pull with technology push, and
