Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) is proud to announce design partner Josh Goot has presented his spring 2007 collection at New York Fashion Week on September 9th, at the Matthew Marks Gallery in New York.

A number of garments on the catwalk at Josh Goot's New York Fashion Week parade were made using innovative Australian Merino wool textiles that have been created in collaboration with AWI.

It was a case of 'natural progression' for the influential Australian designer. “After establishing the brand in the Australian market, and receiving my first order from Henri Bendel as a result of Australian Fashion Week in April, taking the collection to New York seemed the next logical step” said Mr Goot.

“It has been very exciting for us because as well as the parade we had the opportunity to showcase the collection in the windows of Henri Bendel on 5th avenue which has been a real buzz.”

One of the highlight fabrics on display at the Josh Goot New York Fashion Week was a light weight Australian Merino wool woven fabric.

The textile is produced from fine 17 micron wool which has been blended with viscose then coated with transparent coating while retaining a luxuriously light weight 'drapy' handle.

"The wool knits that I have sourced through AWI have the properties that I require to achieve my signature look. These include natural stretch, drape, durability and versatility. I enjoy working with 100% wool as it is a natural fibre that breathes and is soft to touch,” said Mr Goot.
