At the fourth executive session of the China Silk Association conference, recently held in Beijing, Shengzhou city in Zhejiang Province was officially named the 'silk knitwear production base in China.'
Statistics show that Shengzhou city now has more than 370 enterprises in knitwear production, with an annual sales income of over three billion yuan, total employment of more than 30,000 people, flat knitting machines exceeding 30,000 sets, in which high-tech computerized machines over 100 sets, annual knitwear production of 35 million pieces.
Following neckties industry, knitted apparel industry has become another major economic growth point for Shengzhou city.
