In December 2006, output of textile industry increased by 12.9 percent, a surge of 0.6 percent in growth rate over October 2006. The export value increased by 17.7 percent, a hike of 2.3 percent in growth rate.
The yarn output was 15.53 million tons with a rise of 20.2 percent, cloth output was 39.8 billion meters at an increasing rate of 15.3 percent, costume output was 15.3 billion pieces at a hike of 12.2 percent and chemical fibre output was 18.2 million tons at an increasing rate of 13.6 percent.
Domestic cotton price was RMB12730 per ton, a rise of RMB105 per ton in value. This price was RMB1100 per ton higher than imported cotton.
For first 11 months of 2006, the profit of textile industry was RMB74.8 billion, a hike of 29.6 percent.
