Cotton disease outbreaks likely to be more frequent in 2007

The fourth-generation of cotton bollworm is expected to seriously attack the cotton-growing areas in the Yangtze River Basin. Most other cotton-growing areas will be moderately invaded. Affected area will be 33 million mu.
Seedling aphids in the Yellow River Basin and most Xinjiang cotton-growing area will become a serious problem.
Hot season aphids will serious raid Xinjiang cotton-growing area and moderately inroad the Yellow River valley and the middle Yangtze River Valley. Affected area will be 75 million mu times.
Cotton spider mites are expected to heavily attack the northern part of the Yellow River Basin Region, the Yangtze River valley and Xinjiang cotton-growing area. Affected area will be 68 million mu.
Cotton plant-bug is expected to heavily aggress west and north cotton-growing area of Yellow River valley and the Yangtze River valley, other regions will be moderate. Affected area will be 70 million mu times.
