Govt plans to enhance textile export

A meeting was organized on first February, 2007 to discuss the market plan for Pakistan's Textile Industry.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema, Dr Salman Shah Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Tariq Ikram, CEO, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) along with few other dignitaries.

During the meeting the Textile Minister Cheema expressed that the Government is taking actions to bridge the gap between existing productivity of the textile sector and emerging global trends.

According to Dr Salman Shah the government is trying to create a favorable environment that will help textile sector to achieve and maintain growth in the global arena in due course of time.

Major textile companies in Pakistan have attended the meeting.

The Vice President of Werner International, Gian Mario Borney discussed the major issues like the major blockages faced by the textile sector, international trends and regional practices.

With the expiry of the quota era from January first, 2005, the positive measures will help in enhancing productivity, cost-effectiveness and improve and thrive in the export sector.
