NY Fashion Week sees the red dress

The audience poured in to see the first show 'Heart Truth' at the New York Fashion Week which opened on Friday at the Bryant Park.

Heart Truth show is part of the Red Dress project, an initiative taken by First Lady Laura Bush, to increase awareness about heart disease.

The Heart Truth show is an annual event where famous personalities wear red dresses created by famous designers.

First Lady Laura Bush has attended the show wearing crimson Bill Blass skirt suit. Blass designer Michael Vollbracht and Carolina Herrera had joined her.

The red dress show was not a fashion show by traditional standards.

Nowadays, the fashion industry is not willing to accept women of size 0s.

Celebrity models including Kelly Ripa, Lauren Hutton and Angela Bassett catwalked on the runway.

One-shoulder goddess gowns were worn by Kim Cattrall and Rachael Ray created by Carolina Herrera and Donna Karan.

Marlee Matlin wore a sweetheart-neck strapless gown designed by Douglas Hannant.

Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera's fiery red dress worn with tiered dance skirt and ruffled bolero jacket designed by Gustavo Cadile was a respect to her Puerto Rican roots.

Model Lauren Hutton wore Narciso Rodriguez's architectural gown with sheer short sleeves.

The audience applauded when tennis star King appeared in an outfit designed by Gustavo Cadile.

All the high heels touched with red, worn by celebrities were sponsored by Adidas sneakers.
