Production from revived NTC mills soon

National Textile Corporation (NTC) is all set to export yarn and cloth to European and American markets. Of the ailing units, two export-oriented mills of NTC have undergone successful trial runs on newly-installed machines.

Ahmedabad-based Rajnagar Textile Mills number 1, the only short listed mill from Gujarat for modernisation, will begin commissioning of new equipment shortly.

Coimbatore Murugan Mills (CMM) and the Alagappa Textile Mills (ATM) are among the 22 mills shortlisted to undergo Rs 530-crore modernisation and trial run has begun in them, informed, Chairman and Managing Director of NTC, K Rameshchandran Pillai.

Alagappa Textile Mills will get Rs 1,529.12 lakh for modernisation by NTC, while Rs 1,162.98 lakh will be invested for modernising Coimbatore Murugan Mills, said KP Jayachandran, General Manager (modernisation), NTC.

Trail runs of ring frames of Alagappa Textile Mills and Coimbatore Murugan Mills have been done.

Yarn production has already begun by two machines in Coimbatore Murugan Mills whereas Alagappa Textile Mills ATM will start production within a week and orders could be expected from European market for high-end products, informed Jayachandran.
