The textile division of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is setting up Vimal's Global Design Centre here, to make India a global design hub for its fabric brand 'Vimal' catering to young men in India for fashionable suiting and shirting.
Indian designer and suits craftsmen will design suiting with Italian cut for a more fashionable, modern and slim look at the new design centre, informed Chetan Desai, Vice President-Marketing, Textile Division, Reliance Industries Ltd.
The move is part of a strategy to relaunch `Vimal' with new fashionable Italian tailored cut suits for young men in India which also involves importing machinery to upgrade its existing manufacturing facility for Vimal suiting in Ahmedabad, said Desai.
About 20 new company-owned exclusive pilot shops of `Vimal' with new look is planned to be set up in metros.
The new exclusive 'Vimal' showrooms will have tailors who will help customers choose suiting with Italian cuts.
Showrooms will also display shirting fabrics, worsted fabrics and synthetic fabrics for apparel, suits and trousers. Vimal will use its baseline 'Only Vimal', Desai added.
Vimal has started 'Vimal Masters Assemblage Symposium' forum to bring together top designer tailors, including Italian suit designer Maurizio Bonas to expose Indian suit craftsmen to global fashion scenario, informed Desai.
The symposium will provide tips to enhance style quotient of Indian suiting to Italian styling to participants.
