The Scheme proposes to create, depending on a demand survey, up to 25 textile parks (covering the sectors of weaving, knitting, processing and garmenting) of international standard at potential growth centers before 2007-08.
Each park would provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for locating at least 50 textile units. In these parks, it is expected that the textile industry would set up around 1,250 modern textile units creating half-a-million new jobs and also facilitating a quantum jump in textile exports.
Location of the projects would be identified after a demand and potentiality study by a professional agency. Projects will be implemented where there is demand and there is a chance of success.
