Few people think it possible to have cotton harvesting in winter-season. However, recently, in Shuangyang town Poyang county, many growers were busy harvesting cotton.
Poyang country is one of the key cotton-growing areas with rich history. In recent years, the local growers adapt scientific management to meet environmental demand and growing conditions in different periods of cotton production according to the rules of cotton development. There appears an 'abnormal' phenomenon for the crops to bear cotton bolls in autumn, while bloom for second time in a year.
Now, growers have adopted certain scientific methods. They let the crops to grow in field in winter season. After frost season, the last batch of cotton bolls would open into white cotton, thus bringing in more than 50 kilograms yield of high quality cotton per mu (one hectare = 15 mu).
