EPCH's pre-budget suggestions & recommendations for handicraft

The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH.), a body set up for the promotion of handicrafts by the Government of India, gave various pre-budget suggestions and recommendations for the consideration of Ministry of Textiles and for onward submission to Ministry of Finance.
The suggestions given to Ministry of textiles and for the consideration of Ministry of Finance are as follows:-
1. Infrastructure status to India Expo Centre & Mart and covering project under the category of “Infrastructure Project” for the benefit under Section 80(IA). 2. Exemption from fringe benefit tax on foreign travel of exporters on export promotion trips. 3. Setting up of product specific special economic zones (SEZ) for handicraft and cottage sectors. 4. Allowing imports of tools, equipments and machineries required in the manufacture of handicraft at concessional rate of custom duty of five percent.
Issue related to Ministry of Commerce & Industry and DGFT.
1. Flexible labour laws for handicraft to suit seasonal work load. 2. Steps for refund and reduction of high transaction cost. 3. Rs1000 crores corpus fund for export promotion of handicrafts to increase the world market share.
