According to a recently held meeting by Textile Industry Association, China's textile industry maintained three healthy development momentums in 2006. Relying on scientific and technological progress and independent innovation, intensified the restructuring and industrial upgrading.
First, textile industry achieved significant results in transformation of economic growth mode in 2006. Value growth exceeded volume growth.
Second, overall exports maintained a rapid growth, boosting the imports of related products. According to customs statistics, China's textile and apparel exports last year totaled US $147.09 billion, an increase of 25.1 percent.
Third, macro-control had an obvious effect on textile investment. Investment in fixed assets continued to show a tendency moving to the industries in central and western regions.
