A six-day exhibition-cum-sale of products and handicrafts is organized by the Puducherry Khadi and Village Industries Board (PKVIB) in association with Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) at Sri Vedapureeswarar temple in Puducherry.
The handicrafts and products are made by craftsmen, who are beneficiaries of Rural Industries Development Scheme of the Board.
Today is last day of the fair, which began on March 29. Craftsmen from West Bengal, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karaikal participated in this fair.
The PKVIB has been providing subsidy to rural craftsmen for taking up self-employment projects and allocated Rs71.18 lakh during 2006-2007 fiscal.
The board has also started providing marketing facilities by organizing exhibitions like this to encourage the rural industries and self-employment projects.
