The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has invited World Trade Organization Director-General Pascal Lamy to speak before its first Doha Series luncheon on "The Doha Development Agenda: Is Time Running Out on U.S. Leadership?"
Monday, April 23 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Registration and lunch begin at 12:00 p.m. Remarks begin at 1 p.m. U.S. Chamber Headquarters 1615 H St. N.W. Washington, D.C.
Lamy's speech comes at a time that efforts to revive the Doha Round of World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations are picking up steam in Geneva. The United States was the driving force behind the creation of this multilateral trading system, and this investment has paid off.
However, with the pending expiration of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) some fear the U.S. leadership of the WTO may be at risk. Lamy will discuss the future of the WTO and the prospects of the Doha Round moving forward in the coming months.
Credentialed members of the media are invited to attend.
